Hasbro is set to introduce the Werewolf by Night version of Man-Thing to its Marvel Legends action figure series. This announcement precedes the opening of pre-orders, with the figure expected to hit shelves in Fall 2024. CBR has provided exclusive first-look photos of this highly anticipated collectible.
Theodore “Ted” Sallis, better known as Man-Thing, is a formidable creature who was captured and taken to Bloodstone Manor to be hunted for sport. The Marvel Legends rendition, inspired by Marvel Studios’ Werewolf by Night, reimagines the character as a 6-inch action figure. It features a newly designed torso, head, forearms, and shins. The figure also comes with two alternate hands and boasts over 20 points of articulation, including a fully poseable head, arms, and legs, allowing for a variety of dynamic poses.
Packaged in a collectible window box adorned with Werewolf by Night artwork, the Man-Thing figure will be available for pre-order starting June 13 at 1 p.m. ET through fan channel retailers. Priced at $39.99, this figure is slated for a Fall 2024 release.
Man-Thing’s Future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Werewolf by Night, presented as a television special, premiered on Disney+ in 2022. Initially released in black and white, a color version was subsequently made available on the streaming platform. This special marked the MCU debut of Man-Thing, with Carey Jones providing the motion capture for the swamp creature. There have been hints that Man-Thing will reappear in the MCU, possibly in a new context.
“I think one of the very cool things about the special is it’s just peeling back the corner of monsters in the MCU,” said executive producer Brian Gay in an interview with The Direct. “So there’s not just the monsters that are part of Werewolf by Night… What all this lends to is the idea that for centuries there have been monsters within the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and they’ve been tracked or hunted or kept at bay by these hunters.”
Gay further added, “And I think, well, we don’t know exactly where they’ll pop up next, the idea is that, with this wide swath of different species and types, they’re going to pop up again. You’re going to see these guys in different ways, of course.”
The Marvel Legends Series Man-Thing action figure will be available for pre-order starting June 13 at 1 p.m. ET.
