Christie, a leader in cinema projection technology, continues its longstanding collaboration with the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF), marking its 15th consecutive year of partnership. From June 14-23, Christie’s advanced projection systems are prominently featured across major venues in Shanghai, enhancing the cinematic experience for audiences attending the festival.
Themed “City of Films,” this year’s SIFF celebrates Shanghai’s rich cinematic heritage and its role as a hub for both local and international filmmakers. Christie’s cinema projectors are integral to the festival’s operations, supporting key events such as the opening and closing ceremonies and adjudicating films nominated for the prestigious Golden Goblet Award for Best Film.
Over 3,700 films from 105 countries and regions are part of this year’s SIFF lineup, with screenings taking place at 53 venues across Shanghai and neighboring cities. The venues, including newly integrated urban areas, feature Christie’s cutting-edge CINITY Cinema System and Dolby Cinema technologies, ensuring exceptional visual quality and immersive viewing experiences.
At the Shanghai Grand Theatre, Christie’s CP4420-Xe cinema projector took center stage on June 15 for the screening of the festival’s opening film, “Red Radio Over Shanghai.” Directed by Dasheng Zheng and Yi Cui, the film showcases Christie’s CineLife+ Series projector, renowned for its ultrafast processing and superior image performance, which has become a fixture at the SIFF for its second consecutive year.
James Li, Executive Director of China Cinema at Christie, expressed pride in the longstanding partnership with SIFF, stating, “We are honored by the festival’s continued trust in our cinema projection technology to deliver spectacular visuals to audiences. This collaboration underscores our commitment to presenting filmmakers’ visions with utmost fidelity and enhancing the overall moviegoing experience.”
The Shanghai Film Art Center, a key venue for SIFF, has recently undergone extensive renovations and now features Christie’s latest CineLife+ Series projection systems with Real|Laser illumination, including models such as CP4420-RGB, CP4425-RGB, and CP4450-RGB. These advancements ensure that attendees can enjoy screenings with vivid, high-definition imagery, further elevating their viewing pleasure.
Beyond SIFF, Christie’s cinema projection technologies have illuminated screens at renowned film festivals worldwide, including Cannes, BFI London, and Toronto International Film Festival, reinforcing Christie’s reputation for innovation and excellence in visual technologies.
Founded in 1993, SIFF remains China’s only FIAPF accredited competitive film festival, emphasizing technological innovation, international cooperation, and the advancement of Chinese cinema. The festival continues to serve as a vital platform for nurturing emerging talents and promoting cultural exchange within the global film industry.
