The acclaimed folk music ensemble, The Syncopaths, is set to captivate audiences with selections from their latest album, ‘Be Like the Sea,’ this Saturday at Caltech. Known for their spirited blend of American and Celtic folk music, the quartet brings a unique improvisational flair to their performances, drawing fans with their playful yet soulful style.
“We’re thrilled to share music from our new album,” expressed Ashley Hoyer, the group’s mandolinist. “Audiences can expect beautifully sung narratives by Christa Burch and lively fiddle tunes crafted by our bandmates.”
The Pasadena Folk Music Society lauds The Syncopaths for their dynamic performances, highlighting Christa Burch’s powerful vocals, the lively interplay between fiddler Ryn McKasson and mandolinist Ashley Hoyer, and the rhythmic drive provided by Jeffrey Spero on piano and Christa Burch on bodhran, an Irish hand drum.
The concert kicks off at 8 p.m. at Caltech’s Beckman Institute Auditorium, located at 400 S. Wilson Ave. Organizers advise attendees that the Beckman Institute building is adjacent to the larger, circular Beckman Auditorium.
