Discover Musical Diversity at the 45th Annual Calgary Folk Music Festival

Prepare for a musical journey like no other at the 45th annual Calgary Folk Music Festival, running from July 25 to 28 at Prince’s Island Park. This year’s festival promises an eclectic array of performances across four days, featuring more than 70 artists from diverse genres including North African rhythms, southern country, harmonic pop, funk, blues, and beyond.

Music enthusiasts will have the opportunity to experience performances from a range of celebrated artists including The Roots, KT Tunstall, Ben Howard, Margaret Glaspy, James Vincent McMorrow, and Cowboy Junkies, among others. Attendees can immerse themselves in the rich sounds of both renowned favorites and emerging talents at multiple stages throughout the park.

In addition to the impressive lineup of musical acts, the festival offers a variety of activities for all ages. Visitors can explore the arts market, enjoy family-friendly activities in the Family Zone, and sample a diverse selection of foods at the vendor alley. The Talk Tent will feature a dynamic mix of comedians, panel discussions, and a hip hop cypher, providing a platform for lively and engaging conversations.

Adding to the excitement, CBC Radio will be prominently involved in the festival with familiar voices from Calgary’s local programming. Loren McGinnis from Calgary Eyeopener will host the Mainstage on Friday, July 26, from 5:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. On Saturday, July 27, Jenny Howe of The Homestretch will emcee at the National Stage 4 from 6:15 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. To close out the festival on Sunday, July 28, Tarik Robinson from Key of A and Paul Karchut from Daybreak Alberta will take the Mainstage from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
