Five Nights at Freddy’s Sequel Confirmed for 2025 Release

by Barbara

Universal Pictures has officially confirmed the highly anticipated sequel to “Five Nights at Freddy’s” during its recent CinemaCon presentation. Jim Orr, Universal’s President of Domestic Theatrical Distribution, announced the return of the popular horror franchise slated for release in 2025.

The announcement follows the tremendous success of the original film, which made headlines with its remarkable box office performance earlier this year. “Five Nights at Freddy’s” debuted with a staggering $78 million in the United States, marking it as the third-highest horror opening of all time, trailing only behind the two “It” films. Additionally, it stands as Blumhouse’s top U.S. box office debut, surpassing 2018’s “Halloween.”

Globally, the horror sensation grossed an impressive $130 million, securing its place as Blumhouse’s most successful global debut and the highest-grossing horror film debut of 2023, outperforming “The Nun II.”

Starring Josh Hutcherson of “The Hunger Games” fame, the supernatural thriller delves into the eerie mysteries unfolding within an abandoned pizzeria. The cast also includes Elizabeth Lail from “You,” Matthew Lillard from “Scream,” Mary Stuart Masterson from “NCIS,” and Piper Rubio.

Hutcherson provided insights into the upcoming sequel, expressing enthusiasm for returning to the eerie universe. “I know they’re in the process right now of nailing down the story, and they want to get going as soon as possible,” Hutcherson remarked. Reflecting on the unexpected success of the first film, he added, “The fans are amazing and die hard. For me to be a part of it was so cool and phenomenal. We hoped it would connect with audiences. But I don’t think that anybody, even on our side of things, expected it to really connect the way that it did.”

Hutcherson further praised director Emma Tammi, noting, “Emma Tammi, our director, was fantastic, and it was such a fun world to play in. I’m excited to see what they are doing next.”

“Five Nights at Freddy’s” is currently available for purchase and rental on various digital platforms, allowing fans to immerse themselves in the chilling atmosphere ahead of the sequel’s highly anticipated release in 2025.
