Organizers of the 40th annual Spiedie Fest & Balloon Rally have announced a change to their much-anticipated music lineup. Country singer Mitchell Tenpenny, originally slated to perform on Sunday, August 4th at 7 p.m., will no longer be appearing at the event.
In a surprise move, Tenpenny will be replaced by acclaimed country artist Justin Moore, known for hits such as “If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away” and “Small Town USA.” The lineup adjustment was revealed during a press conference held Wednesday morning, where details about the upcoming festivities were disclosed.
“We are excited to welcome Justin Moore to Spiedie Fest,” stated Dave Pessagno, events coordinator for the festival. “This year marks a significant milestone in our history, and we are committed to delivering an unforgettable experience for attendees.”
For those who have already purchased tickets specifically for Mitchell Tenpenny’s performance, organizers have assured that these tickets will be honored for entry into Justin Moore’s concert. Alternatively, ticket holders may opt for a refund. To obtain a refund, tickets must be postmarked and sent to Spiedie Fest, P.O. Box 275, Binghamton, NY 13905 within the next week. Refund requests should include the ticketholder’s full name, address, phone number, and the original point of purchase.
The press conference also highlighted the unveiling of the Spiedie Hungry For History Marker at Otsiningo Park, underscoring the cultural significance of the Spiedie Fest in Binghamton. This marker, recognizing notable foods across the nation, was championed by Union-Endicott teacher Ryan Page and his students.
Broome County Executive Jason Garnar praised the festival’s impact on the region, describing Spiedie Fest as a catalyst for local growth and a draw for visitors from both within and beyond Broome County.
“With tens of thousands of attendees expected, Spiedie Fest not only celebrates our community’s heritage but also enhances our reputation as a family-friendly destination,” Garnar remarked.
