The Marvel film Deadpool & Wolverine has made a notable impact at the Indian box office, surpassing ₹100 crore just two weeks after its release. Starring Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds, the film debuted on July 26 and has quickly overshadowed recent Bollywood releases, including Ulajh and Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha.
Deadpool & Wolverine has accumulated ₹109.65 crore in India. After earning ₹4.25 crore on its second Friday, the film saw a significant increase on Day 9, netting ₹7.5 crore. This impressive performance positions the film as one of the top Hollywood openers in the country, despite facing earlier competition from Kalki 2898 AD and Bad Newz.
The Marvel production is on track to surpass the lifetime earnings of the first two Deadpool films, both domestically and internationally. The film’s robust box office performance underscores its widespread appeal and strong reception among audiences.
In a recent Instagram post, Ryan Reynolds expressed his gratitude for the film’s success. Sharing behind-the-scenes photos, Reynolds reflected on the journey of creating the movie. He wrote, “Nearly a decade of getting to do this. 10 years ago, we would have gleefully taken these BONKERS second-weekend numbers as our opening weekend. The way #DeadpoolAndWolverine has captured the moment is hard to process.”
Reynolds continued, acknowledging the contributions of key individuals involved in the film’s production, including co-writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, directors Tim Miller and David Leitch, 20th Century Fox, and producer Kevin Feige. “The relentlessness we hit this movie with (particularly in post-production) is something I’ll never forget. Thank you to every single person who showed up for this film,” he added. “What a damn thrill this has been.”
The film’s strong performance in India highlights its broad appeal and continues to build on the success of the Deadpool franchise.
