Disney’s Major Releases for 2025
In its August 2024 shareholder presentation, Disney outlined ten major films slated for release in 2025. The lineup includes four Marvel Studios productions, the highly anticipated “Zootopia 2,” and the newly titled “Avatar: Fire and Ash.”
1. Captain America: Brave New World – February 14, 2025
The latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “Captain America: Brave New World,” will see Anthony Mackie reprise his role as Sam Wilson. After facing multiple production challenges, including title changes and reshoots, the film is set to kick off Marvel’s 2025 slate. Directed by Julius Onah, the movie features a star-studded cast, including Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, Liv Tyler, and Harrison Ford in his MCU debut.
2. Snow White – March 21, 2025
A live-action remake of Disney’s 1937 classic, “Snow White” is directed by Marc Webb and penned by Greta Gerwig. Starring Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen and Rachel Zegler as Snow White, the film has stirred controversy, particularly regarding Zegler’s critiques of the original and the reimagined Seven Dwarfs.
3. The Amateur – April 11, 2025
“The Amateur,” a 20th Century Studios espionage thriller, stars Rami Malek and Rachel Brosnahan. The film follows a CIA cryptographer who blackmails the agency to seek justice for his wife’s murder. Originally scheduled for November 2024, its release has been postponed to April 2025.
4. Thunderbolts – May 2, 2025

5. Elio – June 13, 2025
Pixar’s “Elio” centers on an 11-year-old boy who is abducted by aliens and becomes Earth’s ambassador. Directed by Adrian Molina and featuring voices from America Ferrera and Brad Garrett, this film marks Molina’s directorial debut.
6. The Fantastic Four: First Steps – July 25, 2025
“The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” directed by Matt Shakman, reboots Marvel’s First Family with Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards and Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm. The film is set in a retro-futuristic period and is highly anticipated following its lengthy development.
7. Tron: Ares – October 10, 2025
The third installment in the “Tron” series, “Tron: Ares” continues from 2010’s “Tron: Legacy.” Directed by Joachim Rønning, it features Jeff Bridges reprising his role and introduces new cast members including Jared Leto and Jodie Turner-Smith.
8. Blade – November 7, 2025
