The producers of “Ambrosia!,” a comedy film produced in West Virginia, have announced that the movie will debut in September, with plans for a series of screenings across the state and beyond. The film will also be made available on global streaming platforms, though specific details are still being finalized, according to producer Saja Montague.
“We’ve received numerous inquiries from community members about digital streaming options,” Montague said. “However, most film festivals prefer films that are not yet available for streaming, so we need to finalize these arrangements later.”
The film’s production companies, Butter Chicken Pictures and Mtn. Craft Studios, have scheduled a public premiere for September 27 in Beckley, where much of the film was shot. Subsequently, screenings will take place in theaters throughout West Virginia and the surrounding regions.
Montague explained, “We are coordinating with various theaters to schedule showings, but the process is complex due to the need for different agreements with each venue. This couldn’t be fully addressed until the film was completed.”
“Ambrosia!” is a 90-minute feature-length film directed and written by Shane Pierce and David Gravely. The film aims to capture the essence of a Hollywood-style screwball comedy, focusing on the humorous struggles of an innkeeper managing a chaotic house of quirky guests and staff.
The film’s production team includes Saja Montague, Ann Worley, and Ben Berry as producers, with Justin Litton serving as the director of photography. The musical score was composed by Mathew Jackfert, and Aaron Griffin handled sound recording and audio engineering. Executive producers are Chris Oxley, Ann Worley, Richard Hendrick, Kim and Jason Vance, and Sharon and David Gravely, Sr.
The principal cast, listed alphabetically, features Sandeep Chugg, Eliska Hahn-Diller, Kelsey Hofe, Sam Ingram, Afsheen Misaghi, Hannah Moore-Hughes, Robby Moore, Chris Oxley, David Sibray, and Adam Taylor. Background actors include Scott Worley, Steve Clark, Maury Kaplan, Christian Kaplan, Kati Grimmett, Seth Hughes, Robert John Quesenberry, Danny Boyd, Dave Traube, Mariah Plante, Jim Wolfe, Kevin Traube, Christian Shumate, and Debra, Preston, Devyn, Maddy, and Barbara Lanna.
The production crew consists of Dylan Cane, Tijah Bumgarner, Sam Payne, Emilee Pyrtle, DeeDee Ellison, Ann Worley, Will Radford, Kati Grimmett, Tyler Evans, and Emily Butcher.
Montague expressed pride in the film’s West Virginia roots, noting that the entire cast and crew hail from the state.
