The beloved manga and anime series Naruto is set to transition to the big screen with a live-action adaptation helmed by Destin Daniel Cretton, known for his work on Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Recently, screenwriter Tasha Huo revealed that her script is complete and in Cretton’s hands. Huo expressed strong confidence in Cretton’s ability to faithfully capture the essence of Naruto, praising his “very personal and relatable” filmmaking style.
Huo emphasized that Cretton’s involvement is pivotal, as his passion for the source material will ensure that the film respects the nuances of the original series. She noted that his approach will help avoid the pitfalls of a superficial adaptation, highlighting his genuine connection to the character and his relationships.
Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of Naruto, also endorsed Cretton, admiring his expertise in action and drama. Kishimoto acknowledged the challenge of translating the iconic Konoha ninja to the big screen but is optimistic about Cretton’s ability to deliver a compelling adaptation.
