Paramount Pictures has released a new trailer for “Sonic the Hedgehog 3,” offering fans their first glimpse of Shadow, voiced by Keanu Reeves. As a formidable new antagonist, Shadow presents a significant challenge for Sonic and his team, who must now work together to avert global catastrophe.
The film features an ensemble cast with Ben Schwartz reprising his role as Sonic, Idris Elba returning as Knuckles, and Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Tails. James Marsden stars as Tom, while Tika Sumpter plays Maddie. Jim Carrey returns as Gerald/Ivo Robotnik, and Krysten Ritter joins the cast as Director Rockwell. Lee Majdoub appears as Agent Stone, with additional roles played by Natasha Rothwell, Shemar Moore, Adam Pally, James Wolk, and Alyla Browne.
The official synopsis from Paramount Pictures reads: “Sonic the Hedgehog returns to the big screen this holiday season in his most thrilling adventure yet. Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails reunite against a powerful new adversary, Shadow, a mysterious villain with powers unlike anything they have faced before. With their abilities outmatched in every way, Team Sonic must seek out an unlikely alliance in hopes of stopping Shadow and protecting the planet.”
Jeff Fowler, director of the previous installments, returns to helm “Sonic the Hedgehog 3.” The screenplay is written by Pat Casey, Josh Miller, and John Whittington, with Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, Toru Nakahara, and Hitoshi Okuno serving as producers. Executive producers include Fowler, Haruki Satomi, Shuji Utsumi, Yukio Sugino, Tommy Gormley, and Tim Miller.
“Sonic the Hedgehog 3” is set to hit theaters on December 20, 2024.
