DreamWorks Animation is set to bring Peter Brown’s acclaimed novel, The Wild Robot, to the big screen. The film follows the adventures of Roz, a robot (ROZZUM unit 7134), who is stranded on a deserted island. As Roz learns to navigate the island’s challenges, she forms bonds with the local wildlife and becomes a guardian to an orphaned gosling.
The voice cast features Lupita Nyong’o as Roz, Pedro Pascal as the fox Fink, Catherine O’Hara as Pinktail the opossum, Bill Nighy as Longneck the goose, Kit Connor as Brightbill the gosling, and Stephanie Hsu as Vontra, a fellow robot. The ensemble also includes Mark Hamill, Matt Berry, and Ving Rhames.
Directed by Chris Sanders, a three-time Oscar® nominee known for How to Train Your Dragon and Lilo & Stitch, the film delves into themes of self-discovery and the intersection of technology and nature. Produced by Jeff Hermann, known for The Boss Baby 2: Family Business, The Wild Robot will hit theaters on September 12, 2024.
The Wild Robot, first published in 2016, has inspired a trilogy and earned numerous accolades, including a Caldecott Honor and multiple E.B. White Awards.
