At the Toronto International Film Festival, Ana de Armas shared exciting news about the upcoming John Wick spin-off, Ballerina. De Armas revealed that recent reshoots for the film were unexpectedly beneficial. “Typically, reshoots are not viewed positively, but these have truly enhanced the film,” she said. De Armas praised the new footage as “spectacular” and confirmed that a trailer is forthcoming, which she described as “beautiful” and a source of pride.
The actress described Ballerina as maintaining the “dangerous” and “sexy” essence of the John Wick series. “It’s really exciting and very much in line with the John Wick style. I think audiences will be pleasantly surprised,” she noted.
Set between John Wick: Chapter 3 and John Wick: Chapter 4, Ballerina stars de Armas as Rooney, an assassin on a quest for vengeance. The film will feature Keanu Reeves as John Wick, with Anjelica Huston, Ian McShane, and the late Lance Reddick reprising their roles. New cast members include Gabriel Byrne, Norman Reedus, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, and David Castañeda. Directed by Len Wiseman, Ballerina is scheduled for release on June 6, 2025.
An August report also revealed that John Wick: Chapter 5 is in development, alongside a spin-off focused on Donnie Yen’s character, Caine.
