Disney has released a new one-minute trailer and poster for “Moana 2,” the highly anticipated sequel to its acclaimed 2016 animated film. This installment takes viewers on an exciting new adventure with Moana, Maui, and a fresh crew of diverse seafarers.
Auli’i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson reprise their roles as Moana and Maui, respectively. In this sequel, Moana embarks on a perilous journey to the distant seas of Oceania after receiving a call from her wayfinding ancestors, facing challenges unlike any she has encountered before.
Initially conceived as a television series, the project was reimagined as a feature film. In “Moana 2,” Moana steps into the role of chief of her tribe and navigates the complexities of having a younger sister.
Directed by Dave Derrick Jr., the film features music from award-winning composers Abigail Barlow, Emily Bear, Opetaia Foa’i, and Mark Mancina, while Lin-Manuel Miranda does not return for this project. The original “Moana” grossed $680 million at the box office and has garnered over a billion streaming hours on Disney+.
“Moana 2” is set to hit theaters on November 27th.
