by Barbara

Emmy-winning actor Kyle Chandler has been confirmed to star in HBO’s much-anticipated series Lanterns, an adaptation of DC Comics’ Green Lantern. Chandler will portray Hal Jordan, a role previously played by Ryan Reynolds in the 2011 film. This announcement follows that Chandler was in negotiations for the part. Aaron Pierre has also been cast as co-lead, taking on the role of John Stewart, another iconic Green Lantern character.

The Lanterns series, developed by Chris Mundy (Ozark), Damon Lindelof (Watchmen), and comic book writer Tom King, will focus on the dynamic between the two Lanterns. Hal Jordan (Chandler), a veteran Lantern, and new recruit John Stewart (Pierre) are intergalactic law enforcers who find themselves investigating a dark and mysterious murder in the heartland of America.
