Machattu Vasanthi, a trailblazing figure in the realms of theatre and cinema, has passed away at the age of 81. She died at Kozhikode Medical College on Sunday night, leaving a profound impact on the artistic community.

Vasanthi first captured the spotlight at the young age of 13 with her stirring rendition of the popular song “Pachappanamthathe.” Her entry into the film industry was facilitated by the renowned music director Baburaj, who recognized her exceptional talent. She was the daughter of the revolutionary singer and radio artist Machattu Krishnan.
