According to recent reports, Chris Hemsworth, also known as “Thor” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is in talks to star in Disney’s upcoming live-action film “Prince Charming.” Disney is currently working with director Paul King, known for “Paddington,” to bring the beloved fairy tale character to life. Simon Beaufoy and Jon Croker are co-writing the script.
In Disney’s stories, Prince Charming is the hero who saves the girl in distress from the clutches of evil forces (usually a stepmother), but his background has never been fully explored on screen. In many fairy tales, the hero is referred to as Prince Charming, including “Snow White” and “Sleeping Beauty,” but his true origin is from “Cinderella.” These characters are typically portrayed as handsome and romantic, serving as a reward for the main character rather than a main character themselves.
While details about the film have yet to be revealed, there is plenty of room for Prince Charming’s story to be expanded upon. The film could explore his upbringing before meeting the princess, his romantic journey with her, or even their married life.
It remains to be seen whether Chris Hemsworth will take on the role of Prince Charming, as he is currently filming the crime thriller “Crime 101” alongside Mark Ruffalo. However, his potential involvement in the live-action adaptation is sure to excite fans of both Hemsworth and the classic fairy tale character.
