Saturday Night’s digital release date is out, a month after its theatrical run. This release offers new opportunities for the movie’s viewership and awards prospects.
Directed by Jason Reitman, Saturday Night tells the backstage story of the first broadcast of Saturday Night Live. Its ensemble cast is star-studded.
The movie has begun available to buy or rent digitally on November 12, followed by Blu-ray and DVD on January 7. It received great reviews during its premiere and wide release, being praised as a nostalgic tribute. Despite this, it was a box-office bomb, making only $9 million against a $25 – $30 million budget.
However, with the digital release, more people can watch it from home. And it’s well-timed, as Saturday Night Live’s season 50 continues soon. This could help the movie reach a wider audience and potentially secure Oscar nods, despite its initial box office struggles.
