The 1956 sci-fi film Forbidden Planet, about a 23rd-century group investigating a distant planet colony, is getting a reboot. Warner Bros. is developing it with Emma Watts producing, and Brian K. Vaughan as screenwriter.
Rebooting it is challenging as it’s a classic with dated visuals but high influence. Vaughan, a beloved comic book writer with diverse genre experience, is set to handle the task.
While modernizing, the reboot should retain the original’s charm. Its distinct look could be at risk if over-sanitized, and it’ll be interesting to see how it develops.
