Red One Box Office Hits Global Milestone, Still Far from Breaking Even

Red One has reached an $80 million global box office milestone, yet it’s far from covering its hefty $250 million production budget. The holiday action-comedy about rescuing Santa Claus had a combined domestic and international weekend gross of $84.1 million.

The movie’s prospects are unclear. It may not aim to break even theatrically as it was initially for streaming. But its current box office is weak compared to other recent tentpoles, and with a 33% Rotten Tomatoes score and limited international appeal, its outlook remains rough even with a potential streaming boost.
