As Cobra Kai nears its end, Martin Kove, who played John Kreese in the Karate Kid franchise, says he won’t be back for the upcoming Karate Kid: Legends movie. Story details are scarce, but it’ll be set after Cobra Kai season 6.
Kove reveals he and many co-stars weren’t invited to reprise their roles, joking the creative team is “inviting trouble”. His absence makes sense as Kreese’s arc is tied to Cobra Kai characters, and the show aims to wrap up stories.
While Kove won’t have new scenes in the movie, Kreese could still appear via archival footage, as Cobra Kai has used such to expand the Miyagi-verse.
