James Gunn has laid out the initial projects slated for release in the new DC Universe. With the old DCEU concluded, the new era begins soon with Creature Commandos, an animated series, followed by David Corenswet’s Superman movie in July 2025.
Gunn confirmed the first five movies and series: Creature Commandos, Superman, Peacemaker season 2, HBO’s Lanterns series, and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. He also teased upcoming mystery projects. Additionally, he revealed that the Green Lantern series related to Lanterns will likely release around the Supergirl movie in 2026, though the exact order wasn’t specified.
What Gunn’s DCU Slate Confirmation Means
The initial releases are somewhat as expected, though some changes occurred. Projects like Lanterns and Peacemaker season 2 had faster development. John Cena’s Peacemaker will return in 2025 along with Superman, and Frank Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr. will play roles in multiple projects. DC’s 2026 schedule is taking shape, with Supergirl releasing on June 26, 2026, and Lanterns around that time. Meanwhile, The Batman – Part II (not part of the DCU) is set for October 2, 2026, potentially affecting the DCU’s 2026 movie slots. Some projects like Batman’s The Brave and the Bold movie and HBO’s Booster Gold have no release dates yet, possibly slated for 2027.
