Timothy Olyphant, known for playing lawmen like in “Deadwood” and “Justified”, is set to take on a new project: a remake of a 2021 Norwegian action horror movie, “The Trip”.
Olyphant has experience in both action and horror genres. He’s voiced the Terminator and will play a synthetic in an upcoming series. He’s also been in various horror works like “The Santa Clarita Diet” and “Scream 2”.
Olyphant will co-star with Jason Segel, Samara Weaving, and Juliette Lewis in the remake. The original film starred Noomi Rapace and Aksel Hennie as a couple with murderous plans that go awry when interrupted by other killers.
The 2021 version of “The Trip” has an 83% Rotten Tomatoes score and is on Netflix. It has a comedic touch as the couple’s plans are disrupted.
The new cast suggests a strong focus on the comedic elements. Olyphant is skilled at blending horror and comedy, and with Segel, Weaving, and Lewis also having comedic abilities, the remake could be successful. Whether it’ll get the same positive response as the original remains to be seen, but the cast list is promising.
