Christian Linke, co-creator of the hit animated series Arcane, has shared exciting updates on the next wave of League of Legends TV shows. Speaking in a recent interview with Twitch streamer Necrit94 (via GamesRadar), Linke confirmed that the next three series will explore new regions of Runeterra: Noxus, Ionia, and Demacia. While the exact order of these releases remains unannounced, Linke revealed that the first of the new series has been in development for about a year.
“Noxus, Ionia, and Demacia are going to be there and they’re going to be the next step into this cinematic universe… The next season has been in development for about a year,” Linke explained.
The announcement comes as Arcane season 2 wrapped up the stories of Piltover and Zaun, offering closure to several key characters while setting the stage for future narratives. Fans can expect familiar faces to return as the League of Legends universe expands across different regions.
Expansion of the Runeterra Universe
Linke’s earlier statements about recurring characters suggest that Noxus might be the next region to be explored. This is further supported by hints from Arcane season 2, such as the appearance of Mel (Toks Olagundoye) and Ambessa (Ellen Thomas), both of whom hail from Noxus, and a three-eyed raven seen in the show’s final moments, alluding to the region’s leader, Jericho Swain. As Swain plays a pivotal role in Noxus’ conflict with Ionia, it’s possible the storylines of these two regions will intersect, much like the intertwined tales of Piltover and Zaun.
The fact that the next series has already been in development for a year is promising news for fans eager for more League of Legends content. With Arcane season 1 taking six years to produce and season 2 an additional three, this faster production timeline could lead to a shorter wait between seasons. While the next series may not premiere until 2026, this accelerated pace could set a new precedent for future shows in the League of Legends franchise.
A Bright Future for the League of Legends TV Universe
Linke’s roadmap for the next series shows a clear vision for the League of Legends TV universe. The upcoming shows will explore fresh territories, making them feel like independent continuations rather than direct Arcane sequels. With countless champions and compelling backstories to draw from, the League of Legends universe is only just beginning its journey into television.
