IFC Films has unveiled the official trailer for Inheritance, a high-octane spy thriller starring Bridgerton alum Phoebe Dynevor. Set for theatrical release on January 24, 2025, the film promises an intense blend of action and suspense as Dynevor steps into the world of espionage.
Dynevor, who gained widespread attention for her role in Netflix’s 2023 thriller Fair Play alongside Alden Ehrenreich, is quickly becoming a fixture in the thriller genre. The actress is also set to appear in two additional upcoming films, Famous, directed by Jody Hill and co-starring Zac Efron, and Anniversary, helmed by Jan Komasa, with Zoey Deutch.
The newly released Inheritance trailer introduces Dynevor as Maya, a woman who is thrust into the world of espionage after her mother’s death. The trailer showcases a series of gripping action sequences shot with a guerilla-style filmmaking technique, lending the film a raw, intense edge uncommon to the genre.
Directed by Neil Burger (Divergent, Limitless), who co-wrote the screenplay with Olen Steinhauer, Inheritance features a talented ensemble cast. In addition to Dynevor, the R-rated thriller stars Rhys Ifans (House of the Dragon) as Sam, Ciara Baxendale (My Mad Fat Diary) as Emily, Kersti Bryan (Perry Mason) as Jess, and Byron Clohessy (City on a Hill) as Doug. The film also features Majd Eid (Farha) in the role of Khalil Jamal. Inheritance is produced by Bill Block, Burger, and Charles Miller, with Jackson Hunt and Nick Carew serving as cinematographer and editor, respectively.
The official synopsis reveals the plot’s central mystery: After Maya discovers that her father was once a spy, she becomes entangled in an international conspiracy. As she delves deeper into her father’s past, Maya must quickly learn to navigate the dangerous world of espionage, all while becoming a target herself. Her quest for answers leads her across the globe, where she must master her father’s skills and unravel the secrets of his hidden life.
Inheritance is shaping up to be a must-watch thriller for fans of high-stakes espionage and action-packed storytelling.
