Colman Domingo, known for his role in Euphoria, stars in the new Netflix series The Madness, which premiered on U.S. Thanksgiving. The crime drama follows Muncie Daniels, a man wrongfully accused of murder, as he fights to clear his name and reconnect with his family. Created and co-showrun by Stephen Belber, the show has received a mixed reception from critics.
The Madness holds a 67% score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 12 critic reviews, just above the 60% threshold for a “Fresh” rating. However, it has not earned the prestigious “Certified Fresh” label, indicating a more lukewarm reception. Audience reactions are similarly tepid, with a 65% approval rating.
Despite its less-than-stellar reviews, The Madness is a limited series, and its impact on the Netflix charts remains to be seen. Although it may not be a breakthrough for Domingo’s post-Euphoria career, his recent Oscar nomination is likely to fuel his future prospects.
