Anya Taylor-Joy’s New TV Project 5 Years After ‘The Queen’s Gambit’

by Barbara Miller

Anya Taylor-Joy is set for a new TV project five years after her lauded role in The Queen’s Gambit. She debuted on TV in 2014 and gained fame with movies like The Witch and others. Her career expanded with diverse roles in various films and on shows like Peaky Blinders. Now, she’s returning to television.

She’ll lead the limited drama series Lucky on Apple+. Based on a novel, it’s about a woman who has to embrace her dark side again to escape her past. Reese Witherspoon is an executive producer. Taylor-Joy expressed excitement about working with the team, and the show seems set to focus on female empowerment and be a prestige drama with a big story. It’s expected in 2025.

Taylor-Joy is highly in-demand and her prior TV work is impressive. Her return to the small screen is anticipated, and with a strong production team, Lucky could be a hit. It’ll let her test her acting range with a darker, more intense role, even if it might not reach the acclaim of The Queen’s Gambit.
