David Leitch, known for his work on the John Wick franchise, is continuing development on the sequel to his 2022 holiday action comedy Violent Night. The film, which starred David Harbour as a Santa Claus forced to fight off criminals during a Christmas Eve hostage situation, was a surprise hit, grossing over $76 million worldwide on a $20 million budget.
Despite a 2023 confirmation that a sequel was in the works, progress slowed due to Harbour’s packed schedule. However, in a recent interview, Harbour expressed his enthusiasm for the sequel, revealing that Universal is excited to move forward. “There are talented people working on it,” he said, hinting at a potential expansion of the story, including the introduction of Mrs. Claus.
The news comes at a promising time for Violent Night 2, as Leitch’s other project, Nobody 2, nears release, and both fans and critics have shown strong approval of the original. With Harbour’s involvement and creative ideas already taking shape, it seems increasingly likely that Violent Night 2 could become a festive action staple for years to come.
