‘Scream 7’ Cast Grows with The Fabelmans Star in Mystery Role

by Barbara Miller

The cast of “Scream 7” is steadily expanding. The upcoming installment in the long-running horror franchise, which is set to be directed by its creator Kevin Williamson, is slated to hit theaters in February 2026. The return of franchise veteran Neve Campbell has been confirmed, and other cast members include Isabel May, Asa Germann, Celeste O’Connor, and Mckenna Grace. Additionally, Patrick Dempsey has been approached to reprise his role as Detective Mark Kincaid, though his involvement remains unconfirmed.

It reports that Sam Rechner, known for “The Fablemans”, has now joined the official “Scream 7” cast. However, details about the character he’ll play are still under wraps. So far, the only other clearly defined role aside from Campbell’s Sidney Prescott is that of one of her daughters, to be played by May.

This latest casting has implications for “Scream 7”. Initially, the movie was meant to feature the return of Melissa Berrera and Jenna Ortega as the Carpenter sisters, but plans changed after Berrera’s controversial firing. Now, it’s expected that Sidney’s children could step in to fill the void and become the new leads of the franchise’s next generation.

In the “Scream” timeline, Sidney Prescott has three children with Detective Kincaid. While her daughters could be of high school age for “Scream 7”, their son would likely be pre-teen, making it unlikely that’s the role Rechner has taken.

Our speculation on who Rechner could play in “Scream 7” is that, given the franchise’s penchant for playing on horror tropes and references, with Sidney’s daughters reaching an age similar to when she first encountered Ghostface, Williamson might introduce characters analogous to Billy Loomis and Stu Macher. Rechner could potentially be a school friend or even a boyfriend of Sidney’s daughter, and that relationship might be deeply affected by her past trauma. However, while he and Germann could be seen as the new Billy and Stu in some respects, it would be too predictable for them to also be the new Ghostface killers. Williamson probably has another unexpected twist in store, and audiences will have to wait until early 2026 to find out who will don Ghostface’s iconic mask next.
