Universal Pictures has rechristened the follow-up to its successful 2024 movie musical Wicked as Wicked: For Good. This sequel will continue the story based on the second act of the renowned Broadway musical.
In Wicked: For Good, we’ll see Elfaba (portrayed by Cynthia Erivo) after she has fully grasped her powers and is subsequently declared an enemy of the state by a wizard (Jeff Goldblum) and Mrs. Moribble (Michelle Yeoh). The new title of the sequel draws inspiration from a poignant song in the second act that delves into how the relationship between the Wicked Witch of the West and the good Glinda (Ariana Grande) transforms them both.
The initial installment of Wicked, which premiered in North America on November 22, has achieved remarkable box office success. To date, it has grossed $359 million in North America and over $524 million globally, positioning it as the second-highest-grossing stage adaptation worldwide, trailing only Mamma Mia! ($611 million).
Fans can look forward to the release of Wicked: For Good in North America on November 21, 2025, as it promises to continue the magical and captivating story that began in the first part.
