A highly praised action thriller starring Jude Law and Nicholas Hoult was released on Video on Demand (VOD) . Jude Law, known for his roles in films like “The Talented Mr. Ripley” and “Cold Mountain”, which earned him Academy Award nominations, has had an outstanding career spanning 38 years. He’s currently leading the cast of “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” on Disney+, which has been well-received by audiences, and has also appeared in major blockbusters such as “Sherlock Holmes”, “Captain Marvel”, and the “Fantastic Beasts” series. Additionally, he starred in fan-favorite romantic movies like “Closer” and “The Holiday”.
Nicholas Hoult, whose career has been on an upward trajectory for the past decade, got his mainstream start with “X-Men: First Class” and “Warm Bodies”. Since then, he’s taken on diverse projects that achieved commercial success and/or critical acclaim. He reprised his role as Beast in several “X-Men” sequels and was a memorable part of the “Mad Max: Fury Road” cast as Nux. He also starred opposite Elle Fanning in “The Great”, earning an Emmy nomination, and appeared in the dark comedy “The Menu”.
The movie in question is “The Order”, an action thriller directed by Justin Kurzel and based on a true story. It focuses on an investigation into bank robberies in the Pacific Northwest that are suspected to be the work of domestic terrorists. Law and Hoult play Terry Husk and Bob Matthews respectively, and the cast also includes Tye Sheridan, Jurnee Smollett, Marc Maron, and Odessa Young. “The Order” was released in theaters on December 6 and has received acclaim, currently holding a 90% critic score and 89% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
“The Order” was already available on VOD. The release was released on December 24, and audiences will be able to purchase or rent the movie for $24.99 or $19.99 respectively. This means the true story-based action thriller will arrive on home screens less than three weeks after its limited theatrical release.
The VOD release of “The Order” is a great opportunity to expand its audience. Despite its critical acclaim, the movie only grossed under $2 million globally. However, many viewers might be willing to pay to watch it at home. Besides its impressive Rotten Tomatoes scores, “The Order” benefits from being based on a true story and having a strong cast, which is likely to attract fans of Law and Hoult. Now, those who missed seeing it in theaters or were unaware of it can look forward to its VOD debut.
