Anaconda Remake Release Date Unveiled in Jack Black & Paul Rudd Video

by Barbara Miller

Paul Rudd and Jack Black have provided a significant update on the Anaconda remake via a video that reveals its release date. The original “Anaconda” movie, which came out in 1997, centered around a National Geographic film crew that was compelled to collaborate with an obsessed hunter to capture the world’s largest snake. Sequels followed in 2004, 2008, and 2009. After a 15-year hiatus, it was announced in August of this year that a comedic remake of “Anaconda” is in the works, directed by Tom Gormican and starring Black, Rudd, and Daniela Melchior.

Sony has now shared a new video showing Rudd and Black on what appears to be a tropical-looking set for the Anaconda remake. In the video, the pair discloses that the film will be hitting theaters during Christmas 2025. There’s some uncertainty regarding whether the movie will be titled “Anaconda” or “The Anaconda”, but Black assures viewers that “there’s gonna be a big f–king snake.”

What the new Anaconda remake video implies for the movie in terms of what’s been revealed so far is as follows. The set showcased in the video, which might be a boat or a bar, definitely has a tropical look. This aligns with the setting of the first movie, which primarily took place on a boat in the Amazon River. It’s also worth noting that Rudd is wearing scrubs in the video, which could potentially offer a clue about his character.

In the original “Anaconda”, Jennifer Lopez, Jon Voight, and Ice Cube were the main leads, while in the remake, Black, Rudd, and Melchior will take on those central roles. The two lead characters in the remake are described as a wedding photographer with directorial aspirations and an aspiring actor, though it’s yet to be determined who will play which role. The original movie’s cast also included Owen Wilson, Jonathan Hyde, and Kari Wuhrer, suggesting that additional casting announcements for the remake might be forthcoming in the next few months. Director Tom Gormican’s recent work on “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent” could indicate the comedic tone that the Anaconda remake will adopt.

Anaconda remake video is the new film will feature some changes. None of the previous Anaconda movies received favorable reviews from critics, yet the concept of a crew hunting a giant, man-eating snake remains appealing. One of the drawbacks of the original was that while it made good use of practical effects, the snake didn’t look very realistic when it came to visual effects. It’s unclear if the remake will utilize practical effects, but with modern VFX technology, there’s hope that the digital snake will appear more lifelike.

The Anaconda remake is reported to have a more comedic tone than the original, and the video featuring Black and Rudd seems to support this. Both actors are known for their comedic talent and already seem to have a good rapport, which is a positive sign for the movie. Although many questions about the Anaconda remake still remain, audiences now have a release window to anticipate.
