The 2024 box office in Japan has come to a close, and the top 10 films have been officially announced. Among them, the 27th theatrical version of “Detective Conan”, titled “The Five Stars of a Million Dollars”, has emerged victorious, claiming the top spot on Japan’s box office this year. It has achieved remarkable ticket sales of 15.8 billion yen, which not only makes it the highest-grossing film in the “Detective Conan” series in Japan but also secures its place as the 16th highest-grossing film in the nation’s cinematic history.
Moreover, in the realm of animated films in 2024 Japan, only two managed to break the 10 billion yen mark. Alongside “Detective Conan: The Five Stars of a Million Dollars”, the animated film “Volleyball Boys!! Junkyard Battle” reached an impressive 11.64 billion yen at the box office. Meanwhile, the classic anime film “King’s World 4”, a series sequel, ranked third with 8.03 billion yen and continues to display strong momentum. These figures highlight the significant success and popularity of these animated features within the Japanese film market this year.
