by Barbara

Apple TV+ has teased the arrival of its highly anticipated conspiracy thriller Prime Target, starring One Day actor Leo Woodall. The streaming service released the official trailer on Monday, providing a glimpse into the mind-bending drama set to debut on January 22.

Woodall portrays Edward Brook, a brilliant mathematics postgraduate who stumbles upon a groundbreaking discovery in his research on prime numbers. His breakthrough could unlock access to the world’s most secure computer systems. However, his discovery soon attracts the attention of powerful enemies determined to stop him at all costs. As the stakes rise, Edward finds himself entangled in a dangerous conspiracy that threatens not only his life but the stability of the entire digital world.

In a twist of fate, NSA agent Taylah Sanders, played by Black Adam’s Quintessa Swindell, is tasked with monitoring mathematicians for potential threats. Initially on opposite sides, Sanders and Brook eventually form an unlikely alliance to uncover a government conspiracy that places Edward at its epicenter.

The eight-episode series is the brainchild of award-winning writer Steve Thompson, who also serves as executive producer. Alongside Woodall and Swindell, the cast includes Stephen Rea, David Morrissey, Martha Plimpton, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Jason Flemyng, Harry Lloyd, Ali Suliman, Fra Fee, and Joseph Mydell.

Woodall, who gained recognition for his role in The White Lotus—which won a SAG award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series—also starred in One Day with Ambika Mod. Swindell, known for her roles in Black Adam and In Treatment, brings depth to the role of the determined NSA agent.

The series is produced by New Regency, with executive producers Ed Rubin, Beth Pattinson, Emma Broughton, Yariv Milchan, Arnon Milchan, and Michael Schaefer. Scott Free Productions’ Marina Brackenbury, along with David W. Zucker and director Brady Hood, also serve as executive producers. Hood, who directs all eight episodes, brings his sharp eye to the project.

Prime Target is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on January 22, with the first two episodes dropping simultaneously. Following the premiere, one new episode will be released each Wednesday through March 5.
