Cameron Diaz Makes Explosive Return in ‘Back in Action’

by Barbara

Netflix has dropped an exciting new trailer for its upcoming action-comedy film Back in Action, set to premiere on January 17. The film marks the long-awaited return of Cameron Diaz to the screen, after nearly a decade away from Hollywood. Diaz reunites with her Any Given Sunday and Annie co-star Jamie Foxx in what promises to be a thrilling ride.

Back in Action centers on Emily and Matt, played by Diaz and Foxx, who lead seemingly ordinary lives as parents. However, their past holds a major twist: they are former CIA operatives. In the film, they seize the opportunity to disappear from the public eye, using the belief that they are dead as a cover to start a new life and raise their family. Diaz explained the premise to Netflix’s Tudum: “We’re on a mission, and we take this opportunity where people might think we’re dead, to disappear off the face of the planet and start a new life and raise our family.” But, of course, their past quickly catches up with them, setting the stage for the action-packed chaos suggested by the film’s title.

The newly released trailer teases intense action sequences, including an explosive airplane crash, and introduces the film’s star-studded ensemble cast. Joining Diaz and Foxx are Glenn Close (Fatal Attraction), Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights), Andrew Scott (Fleabag), Jamie Demetriou (Barbie), McKenna Roberts (Skyscraper), and Rylan Jackson (Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves).

Directed by Seth Gordon, known for his work on Horrible Bosses and Baywatch, Back in Action also features a screenplay co-written by Brendan O’Brien (Bad Neighbors, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates).
