Warner Bros. Pictures has dropped the highly anticipated first trailer for The Alto Knights, a gripping crime drama featuring Robert De Niro in a groundbreaking dual role. The acclaimed actor portrays Frank Costello and Vito Genovese, two of New York’s most notorious Mafia bosses. Once allies, their friendship shatters as ambition and betrayal drive them toward an inevitable showdown that not only alters the Mafia landscape but also impacts mid-20th-century America.
The film boasts an impressive creative team, including Oscar-winning director Barry Levinson, whose past works like Rain Man, Sleepers, and Wag the Dog have earned critical acclaim. The screenplay is written by Nicholas Pileggi, renowned for co-writing the Martin Scorsese classics Goodfellas and Casino. The Alto Knights, which was stuck in development limbo for decades, dating back to the 1970s, finally gained momentum when Warner Bros. revived the project in 2022.
Alongside De Niro, the film stars Debra Messing (Will & Grace), Cosmo Jarvis (Shōgun), and Kathrine Narducci (The Irishman) in key supporting roles. Set to hit cinemas in Australia on March 20 and in the U.S. on March 21, The Alto Knights is poised to make a major impact at the box office.
