Actress Urmila Matondkar recently shared her pride in being part of the iconic 1998 crime film Satya, calling it a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The actress took to Instagram to celebrate the movie, posting a reel featuring herself alongside the energetic song “Goli Maar” by singer Mano. She captioned the post, “Once in a lifetime a movie like ‘Satya’ comes along… Humbled and proud to be a part of it. Don’t forget to catch it in its re-release at @pvrcinemas_official from 17th January.”
Directed by Ram Gopal Varma, Satya is known for its raw depiction of the Mumbai underworld and remains a milestone in Indian cinema. The film stars J. D. Chakravarthy, Urmila Matondkar, Manoj Bajpayee, Saurabh Shukla, Aditya Shrivastava, and Paresh Rawal. It is the first installment of Varma’s Gangster trilogy, focusing on Satya, an immigrant who is drawn into the world of organized crime after befriending the gangster Bhiku Mhatre.
Urmila also shared another post earlier this month, showcasing a more glamorous side of herself. The actress posted several pictures in a black rhinestone-embellished bodycon dress, with her hair styled in soft waves. Her minimal makeup complemented the bold, timeless elegance she conveyed through her poses. In her caption, Urmila expressed her admiration for the song “Yeh Mera Dil Yaar Ka Diwana” from the 1978 classic Don, writing, “Love this song and somehow this pose reminded me of it. Bollywood Legends Timeless Classy Bold n Beautiful.”
Urmila began her career as a child artist in the 1977 film Karm and went on to become one of Bollywood’s most beloved actresses. Over the years, she featured in a variety of films including Rangeela, Judaai, Jungle, Satya, Bhoot, and Kaun?. Her last full-length film was the Marathi movie Ajoba in 2014, though she made a special appearance in the 2018 film Blackmail.
As Satya returns to theaters, Urmila continues to celebrate the film’s lasting impact on both her career and the Indian film industry.
