Warner Bros. has recently unveiled the first trailer for “The Alto Knights”, a film helmed by the renowned Barry Levinson, who is no stranger to collaborating with Robert De Niro, having worked with him four times previously. In this upcoming movie, De Niro takes on the challenging task of portraying two distinct male characters, sharing the screen with Deborah Messing, Catherine Nadusi, and others to bring to life a story set in the underworld.
Set in the mid – 20th century, the film delves into the world of the Italian – American Mafia. Robert De Niro will embody the roles of Frank Costello and Vito Genovese, two prominent Italian Sopranos bosses. The narrative centers around a significant event in 1957 when Genovese made an attempt to assassinate Costello. This act left Costello wounded and ultimately led to his removal as the head of the family. Deborah Messing steps into the shoes of Costello’s wife, Bobbie, while Catherine Nadusi portrays Genovese’s wife, Anna.
Anticipation is high for “The Alto Knights”, which is scheduled to hit theaters in North America on March 21. With De Niro’s dual – role performance and Levinson’s directorial expertise, the film promises to offer an in – depth and engaging look into the complex and often – dangerous world of the mid – 20th – century Italian – American Mafia.
