Netflix is set to embark on an exciting new project with director Louis Leterrier at the helm. The French – born director, renowned for his work in the action genre, has cast Greta Lee and Wagner Moura in his upcoming thriller, “11817”. Leterrier made his mark in the film industry with his 2002 directorial debut, “The Transporter”, and later helmed its sequel starring Jason Statham. In 2023, he took on a major franchise, directing “Fast X” in the Fast and Furious series, where he reunited with Statham and worked alongside big – name stars like Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Vin Diesel, and Charlize Theron.
“11817” will feature Lee and Moura in the lead roles. The film’s synopsis is both gripping and claustrophobic. It follows a family of four who are abruptly sealed inside their home with no means of escape. They must not only grapple with their dwindling resources but also face a mysterious, menacing threat that keeps them trapped.
The casting of Lee and Moura, both from recent A24 hits, adds an interesting dimension to the project. Although their exact characters are yet to be revealed, they are likely to play the parents in the family of four. Lee was the lead in “Past Lives”, a critically – acclaimed film that was even nominated for Best Picture. Moura starred in “Civil War” last year. Given Leterrier’s standing in Hollywood, “11817” is expected to be more mainstream compared to “Past Lives” and “Civil War”, which could significantly boost the profiles of Moura and Lee. For Leterrier, known for working with major action stars, this project offers a unique directorial shift. “11817” presents an exciting opportunity for this unlikely trio – Leterrier, Lee, and Moura – to collaborate and create a film that promises to be both thrilling and deeply intimate.
