Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh unveiled the highly anticipated trailer for Punjab 95, confirming that the film will have an international release on February 7, 2025, with no cuts. The movie, which tells the life story of activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, will not undergo any edits for global audiences despite facing significant obstacles in India.
Taking to Instagram, Dosanjh shared the news of the film’s release, stating that while the movie has faced opposition domestically, the global audience will experience the full version. The film’s original title, which references the year of Khalra’s disappearance, has been a point of contention with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The board has recommended 120 cuts, including a change to the title.
Jaswant Singh Khalra, a prominent activist, was abducted in September 1995 after his work investigating the forced disappearances of Sikhs during a turbulent period of terrorism in Punjab. The film’s portrayal of these events has sparked controversy, but Dosanjh emphasized that the international release would remain unaltered. While the film is set to launch globally, it will not be available in India at this time.
