Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions have released the first trailer for their upcoming thriller Drop, offering a gripping preview of a horror-infused first date gone terribly wrong.
Starring Meghann Fahy (The White Lotus, The Perfect Couple) as Violet, a widowed mother re-entering the dating world, and Brandon Sklenar (It Ends with Us, Yellowstone: 1923) as Henry, the film explores a nightmare scenario that unfolds during their dinner at a high-end restaurant.
What begins as a seemingly ordinary evening quickly spirals into chaos when Violet receives a series of anonymous, threatening texts. The messages demand that she kill Henry—or face the devastating consequence of her young son’s death.
A Terrifying Plot Unfolds
According to the film’s synopsis, Violet is plunged into a psychological and physical battle to save her loved ones. As she attempts to maintain composure during the date, the torment escalates. The messages warn her to tell no one about the situation, or the hooded figure she glimpses on her home security camera will kill her son and his babysitting aunt. With her family’s lives hanging in the balance, Violet is forced to comply with her mysterious tormentor’s chilling final demand: kill Henry.
Directed by Christopher Landon, known for his work on Happy Death Day, Freaky, and Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, Drop promises to blend suspense and terror in his signature style. The screenplay is penned by Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach, whose credits include Truth or Dare and Fantasy Island.
The cast also features Violett Beane, Jacob Robinson, and Ed Weeks in supporting roles, adding depth to the nail-biting narrative.
Powerhouse Producers Behind the Scenes
Drop boasts an impressive production team, with Jason Blum, Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Cameron Fuller serving as producers. Executive producers Sam Lerner and Ron Lynch round out the creative force driving the project.
Release Date
Universal Pictures has slated Drop for a theatrical release on April 11. With its high-stakes plot and an ensemble cast led by Fahy and Sklenar, the film is set to captivate audiences seeking a mix of psychological tension and visceral horror.
Fans of edge-of-your-seat thrillers should mark their calendars for this intense cinematic experience.
