Sugar Baby, a gripping new drama from BET+, will debut on February 13, featuring Christina Cooper as Jade, a woman navigating complex relationships and her own journey of self-discovery. The film, directed by Jamal Hill, explores themes of vulnerability, control, and personal growth, with Lance Gross playing her captivating love interest, Anthony.
Created by Shaun Sinclair and Emma Franklin, Sugar Baby follows Jade as she seeks direction after her criminal boyfriend, G-Ro (T.J. Atoms), is incarcerated. Struggling to redefine herself, Jade embarks on a new relationship with Anthony, a wealthy and alluring man with a magnetic presence. Initially drawn to Jade’s innocence, Anthony—who is coping with the loss of his wife—becomes increasingly protective, leading to a dynamic marked by both tenderness and possessiveness.
As the relationship deepens, Anthony grapples with his own insecurities and blurred boundaries, questioning whether he can love someone half his age while trying to shape her into his ideal companion. His emotional struggle becomes a key focus of the film, highlighting the complexities of power, control, and love.
The film also stars Teresa Topnotch, Ciera Angelia, Efrangeliz Medina, and Nikki Dixon. Executive producers include Sinclair, Gross, Tressa Azarel Smallwood, and Donte Lee, with Jacobo Rispa and Damian Romay producing.
