The much-anticipated multilingual psycho-thriller Saaree has generated significant buzz as its trailer was released on Wednesday. Written by renowned filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, the film is set to explore the darker side of social media relationships and the terrifying consequences that can arise from seemingly innocent interactions.
Directed by Giri Krishna Kamal and produced by Ravi Shankar Varma under the RGV Aarvi Productions banner, the film is presented by Ram Gopal Varma himself. Taking to social media, Varma teased the film’s theme, writing on X: “SAAREE deals with the DANGERS of SOCIAL MEDIA, where people enter innocent relationships that lead to frightening consequences. The film will release in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam on February 28.”
The trailer offers a glimpse into the disturbing storyline, which follows a photographer who becomes fixated on a woman dressed in a saree. His obsession grows as he begins stalking her on social media, setting the stage for the chilling events that unfold.
The film stars Aaradhya Devi, formerly known as SreeLakshmi, and Satya Yadu in the lead roles. Devi plays the woman who is relentlessly stalked, while Yadu portrays the obsessive stalker. Devi, a Kerala native, was discovered by Ram Gopal Varma through an Instagram reel, and her selection for the role came via a corporate procedure at the RGV DEN. Both Devi and Yadu were reportedly the unanimous choices for their respective roles.
Joining the cast are actors Sahil Sambhyal, Appaji Ambarish, and Kalpalatha. The film’s music is composed by Anand, with cinematography handled by Sabari. Editing duties are shared between Giri Krishna Kamal and Perampally Rajesh.
Saaree will be released in four languages—Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and Malayalam—on February 28.
