The long-anticipated reboot of the beloved USA Network series White Collar is officially entering the marketplace. Series creator Jeff Eastin, who has spearheaded the revival effort, is set to pitch the project in the next week or two, according to insider sources.
The reboot is being produced by 20th Television, a division of Disney TV Studios. Initially, Hulu seemed like the obvious home for the follow-up, as it currently holds the streaming rights to the White Collar library. However, sources report that the Disney-owned platform decided against moving forward with the reboot, and it is now being shopped around to other networks and streaming services.
Among the major contenders, Netflix is seen as a strong potential fit, given that it currently streams the original White Collar series in the U.S., U.K., and Canada. The cast from the original show, including stars Matt Bomer, Tim DeKay, and Tiffani Thiessen, are expected to reprise their roles in the reboot, though some actors are not yet officially attached to the project.
Talks about a White Collar revival began in the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, when the original cast reunited virtually for a charity event. Eastin confirmed in June 2024 that the project was in development at 20th TV. In September, he shared an update on social media, revealing the title White Collar Renaissance and teasing the pilot episode, titled “Masquerade.”
DeKay, who portrayed Peter Burke on the original series, praised the script, calling it “fantastic” and noting that it would answer lingering questions from fans while introducing the show to newcomers. “Both edges of the sword are honed,” he added.
The reboot is also expected to pay tribute to the late Willie Garson, who played the iconic character Mozzie in the original show. Garson tragically passed away in 2021. “With such sensitivity and such heart,” Thiessen remarked of the reboot script last year. “I was so excited, but at the same time had tears in my eyes — for good reason. You captured the suspense, the thrill, the characters, and the love in that reboot.”
White Collar originally aired on NBCU’s USA Network from 2009 to 2014 and was produced by Fox TV Studios, which eventually merged into Fox21 and ultimately became part of 20th Television.
