RLJE Films and Shudder are bringing Adam Cesare’s popular slasher novel Clown in a Cornfield to the big screen in May 2025, with a chilling new official poster released. The teaser trailer for the film was drop on February 20.
Directed by Eli Craig (Tucker & Dale vs. Evil), the film adaptation follows Quinn and her father as they relocate to the seemingly quiet town of Kettle Springs. However, their hopes for a fresh start are shattered when they uncover the town’s dark secrets, stemming from the recent destruction of the Baypen Corn Syrup Factory. As local tensions rise, a menacing, grinning figure named Frendo emerges from the cornfields, determined to purge the town with a deadly, bloody rampage.
The cast includes Katie Douglas (Ginny & Georgia), Carson MacCormac (Shazam!), Aaron Abrams (Hannibal), Will Sasso (The Three Stooges), and Kevin Durand (Abigail). The film promises to deliver a harrowing, action-packed, and darkly comedic experience, combining horror with intense thrills.
The movie is based on Cesare’s 2020 young adult novel, which was followed by two sequels. Carter Blanchard and Eli Craig adapted the first installment, and Clown in a Cornfield 3: The Church of Frendo was recently released on August 20, 2024. Temple Hill, known for producing Smile, is behind the film’s production.
Clown in a Cornfield will hit theaters on May 9, 2025.
