Set in the fictional Irish town of Drumbán, the new series “Small Town, Big Story” blends drama, comedy, and suspense, highlighting the clash between a rural community’s quiet life and the intrusion of Hollywood glamour.
The highly anticipated drama series Small Town, Big Story is set to debut with a double-episode premiere on February 27 on BINGE. Featuring a stellar cast led by Emmy-nominated Christina Hendricks and BAFTA-winning Paddy Considine, the six-part series delves into the unexpected consequences when a Hollywood TV production descends upon the quaint Irish town of Drumbán, threatening to expose a long-buried secret from the eve of the Millennium.
Created and directed by Chris O’Dowd, best known for Moone Boy, the series is a witty and dramatic comedy exploring the tensions between Drumbán’s idyllic small-town life and the chaos unleashed by the glitz and glamour of the film industry.
Hendricks, who stars as Wendy Patterson, portrays a successful TV producer who returns to her hometown of Drumbán with a Hollywood production in tow. As Wendy navigates the pressures of her new role, she finds herself caught between her past and the high-stakes world of television production.
Paddy Considine plays Drumbán’s beloved local doctor, Séamus Proctor, whose seemingly stable life is upended when the film crew’s presence threatens to unearth a long-hidden secret, one that he has carefully guarded since the turn of the Millennium.
The series was commissioned by Sky Studios for Sky and is produced by Playground, FilmNation Entertainment, and HotCod Productions in association with Sky Studios. The executive producers include Scott Huff and Colin Callender (Playground), Glen Basner, Milan Popelka, and Stefanie Berk (FilmNation Entertainment), and Alex Moody (Sky Studios), with Hendricks and O’Dowd also serving as executive producers. Liz Gill is the series producer, with O’Dowd, Catherine Morshead, Mike Ahern, and Enda Loughman directing.
