As Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce contemplates his future on the football field, his career in the film industry is about to reach a major milestone. Kelce is set to make his debut as an executive producer with the dark comedy-drama My Dead Friend Zoe, slated for a theatrical release on February 28, 2025.
The film tells the story of Merit, a U.S. Army veteran struggling with the emotional aftermath of losing her best friend, Zoe, whose presence continues to haunt her. Kelce expressed his excitement about the project, saying, “Being part of My Dead Friend Zoe as an executive producer has been an incredible experience. My hope is to continue working on meaningful projects like this—stories that entertain, inspire, and make a real impact.”
The movie’s star-studded cast includes Sonequa Martin-Green, Natalie Morales, Ed Harris, Morgan Freeman, Utkarsh Ambudkar, and Gloria Reuben. Notably, 90 percent of the cast consists of veterans.
My Dead Friend Zoe has garnered early praise, holding a 100 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 7.1 score on IMDb.
Looking ahead, Kelce is also set to appear in Happy Gilmore 2, a sequel to the beloved 1996 comedy. The film, expected to be released by Netflix in 2025, will mark Kelce’s first appearance on-screen as an actor.
