A new chapter in the Doctor Who saga is unfolding as the iconic sci-fi series returns for its second season with a fresh face in the TARDIS. Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor is joined by Belinda Chandra, played by Varada Sethu, who quickly establishes her own identity, opting for the title ‘The Nurse’ when introduced to her mysterious new companion.
In the newly released trailer for the BBC and Disney+ reboot, The Doctor and Belinda embark on an epic quest to return her to Earth. However, an enigmatic force stands in their way, threatening to trap them in a web of danger and chaos. “There is something already connecting us,” The Doctor tells Belinda, as the pair confront increasingly perilous challenges that include battling fierce enemies and confronting unimaginable terrors.
As the trailer hints, The Doctor reveals a chilling truth: “There are forces beyond this universe. We think we are so clever, but we are like children. And when these vast creatures look down on us, our entire reality is in danger.”
Among the new threats is the villainous Mr. Ring-a-Ding (voiced by Alan Cumming), a sinister animated character who bursts from a movie theater screen to wreak havoc on a 1950s audience. The season also promises a lighter moment as The Doctor and Belinda attend the Interstellar Song Contest—an otherworldly rendition of Eurovision—with a special cameo from Rylan Clark, who voices the contest’s commentator.
The new season will also feature the return of Millie Gibson as Ruby Sunday, The Doctor’s previous companion, alongside a star-studded cast including Anita Dobson, Bonnie Langford, Jemma Redgrave, and others.
Premiering on April 12, Doctor Who will air on BBC and BBC iPlayer in the UK, while international audiences can catch it on Disney+. Produced by Bad Wolf and BBC Studios, the series continues to captivate audiences with its thrilling blend of science fiction, adventure, and imagination.
