Peacock has announced that actors Maurice Compte, Danay Garcia, and Cary Elwes will join the regular cast of its highly anticipated South Florida-set crime thriller M.I.A., from Ozark co-creator Bill Dubuque.
The trio will join the previously announced lead cast members Shannon Gisela, who portrays ‘Etta Tiger Jonze,’ Brittany Adebumola as ‘Lovely,’ and Dylan Jackson in the role of ‘Stanley.’ Specific details about the new cast members’ characters are currently under wraps.
Set against the backdrop of Miami’s dangerous criminal underworld, M.I.A. centers on Etta Tiger Jonze, played by Gisela. As the daughter of a drug-running family, Etta finds herself thrust into an unpredictable and dangerous life when the family business is threatened. Forced to rely on her intelligence and resourcefulness, she navigates the perilous world of Miami’s crime scene to survive.
The series’ title, M.I.A., refers to Miami’s airport code, with the setting encompassing Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe counties, collectively known as South Florida.
Behind the Scenes
Bill Dubuque will write the pilot episode and executive produce M.I.A. alongside showrunner Karen Campbell and director Alethea Jones. The series is produced by MRC.
M.I.A. joins a growing list of projects exploring South Florida’s criminal underbelly, including Chris Brancato’s Hotel Cocaine for MGM+, Narcos’ early seasons focused on Pablo Escobar, and Griselda, a series led by Sofia Vergara for Netflix.
