Directed by Kyle Balda, known for his work on Minions and Despicable Me 3, the film is based on the 2005 novel Three Bags Full by Leonie Swann. The plot revolves around George Hardy (played by Jackman), a shepherd who adores his sheep and raises them for their wool. Every evening, he reads aloud a murder mystery, believing his sheep are not capable of understanding. Little does he know, the sheep not only comprehend but engage in heated debates about the mystery.

The story takes a dark turn when George is found dead under mysterious circumstances. The sheep, realizing it was murder, decide to solve the crime themselves, as the local police officer, Tim Derry (played by Succession star Nicholas Braun), has never cracked a serious case. The sheep set off on an unexpected journey, leaving their meadow and confronting the complexities of the human world.
